Weil am Rhein, Fall 2014 – The Meeting Chairs have earned the recognition of the Vitra Design Museum, where they join the most important chairs in design history. The chairs were previously added to the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection in 2010.

The MC provide an original solution to traditional seating for public space, with full European and American certification for contract uses.

The Meeting Chairs are present in the catalogs of the leading international auction houses: Bonhams (New York), Pierre Bergé (Paris), Quittenbaum (München), Zoller (Zürich), Cornette de Saint Cyr (Bruxelles), and in Rossana Orlandi Gallery (Milan), where during the 2014 Milan Design Week they were presented in a new version with three and two seats.

Laurence Humier, Belgian, is an engineer by training and works as a designer in Milan. Her research brings together an expressiveness and an experimental side, as she personally integrates technical and constructive know-how with local industry. Devices and concepts are at the base of her projects, which are subsequently translated into everyday applications: the Meeting Chairs, before becoming a system of foldable chairs, were first a synthesis of three distinct mechanical movements.

The clear transversality of her research, her diversity of interests, and her international work are strong points within an activity devoted to a broad sense of design.
